Fitted kitchen in Mapperley
A full kitchen fit in a Mapperley semi: units, worktops, sink and appliances, taken from an empty room to a finished kitchen over about a week and a half.
The owners in Mapperley had bought their units and wanted someone to strip the old kitchen out and fit the new one properly. I took the old kitchen out first, capped off the plumbing and made good the walls where the old cabinets had been.
Setting out is the part that matters most on a kitchen. I got the base units level and square across an uneven floor, scribed the end panels to the wall, and made sure the runs lined up before anything was fixed down. Wall units went on next, packed off the wall so the doors sat flush.
The worktops were laminate with a square edge. I cut and joined them over the corner with a mason's mitre so the join sits tight and you barely notice it, then sealed the cut edges before fixing so they hold up around the sink. The sink and drainer went in with the tap, and I plumbed it back in and tested it.
Last of all I hung and adjusted the doors and drawer fronts so the gaps were even, fitted the soft-close, and dealt with the small bits that get left off other jobs: end panels, plinths, scribe beads and the trim around the appliances. The owners had a small utility next door, so I ran a short matching run of units in there while I had the tools out.
Start to finish it took about a week and a half. If you are having a kitchen fitted in Mapperley or anywhere around Nottingham and you want it set out and finished properly, give me a call.
